Mid-Year Check In

It’s July 1st, which means we are halfway through 2024.  As such, it seems as though this would be the perfect opportunity to check in and ask yourself; how is your year coming along?  Are you proud of the ways that you’ve showed up?  On the personal front, as well as the professional?  Have you made progress towards any of those goals you established back in early January?

Now, listen - there’s no wrong answers, because we only need honest answers.  Perhaps you are one of the few who is on track to accomplish 100% of the goals you set out for yourself.  Or, perhaps you’re like the majority of people and cannot remember what your intentions, resolutions or goals even were.

The reason I invite this time of reflection is because living with intention matters.  It is so easy to get distracted.  It is so easy to slip back into bad habits and avoid establishing healthier ones.  It is so easy to feel like a passive participant in your own life.

However, there is so much good that comes with living life intentionally.  It’s empowering, it’s growth oriented, which we know is good for our mental health and resilience, and it reminds us that we can choose to have autonomy over our lives.  Yes, there is so much beyond our realm of control.  However, living an intentional life grounds us in the reality that when and where we do have control, our personal choices matter.  Our habits matter, our boundaries matter, our lifestyle matters.

Whether it’s January 1st or July 1st, it’s important to remember that it is never too late to create resolutions.  It’s never too late to make goals for yourself, to take inventory of how you are genuinely doing and honestly examine how this one and only life of yours is going.  It’s never too late to cut down on the distractions.  Because we only get one chance at life – so let’s live it with intention and make it count.
